Koh Samui is the second-largest island in Thailand and is situated in the Gulf of Thailand, off the east coast of the Kra Isthmus. It is known for its palm-fringed beaches, coconut groves, and dense, mountainous rainforest. Angela Krislinzki, a popular actress and model who loves to travel, recently visited Koh Samui to shoot for an upcoming project. “Even when I travel on work, I take time off to experience the place and get my bit of vacation,” Angela says. “I’m glad my work takes me to such beautiful and exotic places. I feel one with nature; my mind and soul are rejuvenated and I get totally energised!”
Koh Samui is known for its luxurious resorts and spas, and the young actress stayed in one such resort along with her mom. Angela suggests a few sightseeing spots such as the tranquil and colourful temple complex, Wat Plai Laem, which houses the 18-armed statue of the Goddess Guanyin. She also advises travellers to see the landmark Wat Phra Yai, a massive Buddha statue and the famous Chaweng and Lamai beaches.
“Although I spent a lot of my time on set, I still got to experience the beautiful island during shoots. Koh Samui has the most picturesque views everywhere,” she reminisces, “I enjoyed every single sunrise and sunset, the nature and the fresh air. It was so peaceful and serene!” Angela considers herself a complete water-baby, and the island was just the place to bring out her inner water-lover. “I absolutely love water sports, swimming, and scuba-diving. In fact, my mornings usually start with a good swim followed by yoga; I’m also a certified scuba diver, so I guess you could say an island is just the right place for me. I even tried jet-boarding in Koh Samui, and although it’s a little difficult at first, once you get the hang of it, it’s a lot of fun!” She goes on to say, “If I wasn’t a human, I would certainly have been a mermaid!” (laughs!)
The duo absolutely enjoyed the food in Koh Samui. Angela raves, “The island is most famous for its seafood, which I happen to love. The shrimps, crabs, lobsters, Thai curries and jasmine rice, the coconut water, and fresh fruits and vegetables; all of it was simply mouth-wateringly delicious!” When asked what her overall impression of Koh Samui was, Angela sums it up in one word, “Bellissima!” she gushes, exclaiming the Italian word for “gorgeous.”
Angela believes that travelling makes a person evolve. “You can’t learn in school what travelling can teach you,” she says. “Meeting the locals, learning about their cultures, eating their cuisine, listening to their stories; that’s what travelling is all about. Some places, like New York, Los Angeles, and London move at a jet-speed, while others are relaxed and laidback. Every new city has its own vibe, and when you experience it, it leaves a bit of its flavour in you that you will take back even when you leave. London is my favourite getaway,” she adds. “I feel like it has just the right vibe for me and I absolutely love its quaintness.”
