The prestigious 62nd London Film Festival is an annual event held in United Kingdom. This year, the festival will showcase more than 200 movies from 77 different countries.
One of the highlights of the show was out of the 200 films, more than a third of them were made by women directors. The opening ceremony will showcase a mystery drama film "Widows" directed by Oscar winning filmmaker Steve McQueen. The Indian films that will be showcased at the festival are “Rajma Chawal”, “Tumbbad” and “Manto”. “Tumbbad” is a mystery thriller film set in Pune in the era of the 1920’s. The plot of the film revolves around a three generation Brahmin family. The film is all about a mysterious goddess who created the entire universe. Rishi Kapoor starrer “Rajma Chawal” revolves around the relationship between a father and son. Lastly, “Manto” featuring Nawazuddin Siddiqui is a biographical film about the well-known Urdu writer Saadat Hasan Manto. Ivan Ayr's debut film "Soni" will also be shown at the London Film Festival.
